Find of the Week

There is so many great tips and tricks that Dr. Oz reveals daily and here are some of this "Find of the Week".

It's not easy finding where to buy some of these cool gadgets, so to help you here they are in one easy place.

GEFU SPIRAL CUTTERS

This is a great gadget to create your own vegetable stir fries or pasta dishes or even decorate any serving dish. The GEFU Spirelli Spiral Cutter is a quality product with high quality stainless steel and plastic that is dishwasher proof. It is a manual device and I believe it is a little limited in the vegetable you can use. The ideal size vegetable is a Zuchinni's , squash, potatoes, sweet potatoes and cucumbers..

GEFU also make a GEFU Spiral Cutter SPIRALFIX- which is a little
easier to use, just open the folding lid, use the adjusting wheel to set the desired width of cut and place the vegetables in the box. Now close the lid, turn the crank handle (pressing down gently), and the desired vegetable spirals fall into the non-slip holding container. This cuts everything from carrots, cucumbers, potatoes, squash & zucchinis in minutes. An we even peeled an apple first and then spiral cut it too. Really "easy" to use. Just be careful when washing to not touch the blades on the bottom.

CITRUS SPRAYER

You can take an  orange, lemon, lime or grapefruit and cut the top section and attach the Citrus sprayer and then you have the 100 % real citrus smell.

This handy kitchen gadget lets you transform any dish, dressing or even cocktails into something fresh and delicious.

Cranberry Juice

This fruit juice disrupts the formation of plaque and thereby prevents yellowing of teeth.

The flavonoids in cranberry juice also counteract the damaging effects of bacteria that cause tooth decay.

Be careful that you aren't drinking a sugar-laden cranberry juice cocktail.

Having Trouble Sleeping

Are you having trouble sleeping? , well I have a few tricks that may help you have a good night sleep.
Latest research shows that habitual eating patterns are associated with habitual sleep patterns. This  research may mean that you can promote healthy sleep by changing your diet.

Also this research has found that your sleep type determines your risk for certain illnesses; so by solving your individual sleep issues, you can minimize your risk for conditions like obesity, heart disease and stroke.  These are just some of the reasons why we all need a good nights sleep.

  • Hormone imbalance makes your appetite grow, so you feel full less.
  • Losing the last hour of sleep in a full sleep cycle, which means losing REM sleep, the stage where you burn the most calories.
  • Sleep deprivation causes food cravings for high-fat, high-carb treats.

  • So how do you become an  ideal sleeper that has (7-8 Hours a Night), you need to hydrated and eat well balanced meals with nutrients and drink mainly water.

Food can be a strong support in the quest for a good night’s sleep. Some insomnia sufferers wake at night because their blood sugar drops too low. Adequate protein and healthy fat intake can help stabilize blood sugar through the night, and allow the liver to let out stored sugar molecules as needed for a good night’s sleep. Foods can also support the healthy production of brain neurotransmitters and create calming results in the body.

    Problem: Trouble Falling Asleep
    Solution: Montmorency Tart Cherries
The Montmorency cherry is a type of sour cherry. The color is not as dark as the cherries we typically see in the stores. These cherries are great because they have about 6 times the amount of melatonin than a regular cherry. If you can find a cherry juice concentrate, this will also increase the concentration of melatonin even more.

Melatonin is a hormone produced in your brain’s pineal gland. When it gets dark outside, your eyes sense the lighting change and starts making this hormone, which communicates to your body that it is time to prepare to sleep. Melatonin helps maintain your daily body rhythms, and is an important antioxidant in the body known to fight cancer. In fact, low amounts are shown to increase risk of cancer.
